March 11th, 2022

The digital world is sometimes said to never forget. But anyone who has ever tried to find data that is only a few years old on the global web and then use it again with the latest software knows that digital information can very well be lost. To ensure that this does not happen with valuable research data, numerous actors in science are currently working on making this data as FAIR as possible - findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).

In order to stimulate and support the interdisciplinary exchange in this area, the Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration (HMC) in cooperation with the Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy (HIDA) will start the new lecture series HMC FAIR Friday on March 18th. It is aimed at experienced players in research data management as well as scientists from all research areas of the Helmholtz Association and beyond. The HMC FAIR Friday series offers lectures by high-ranking national and international speakers who will bring all participants (even) closer to the world of FAIR data, deepen individual aspects and stimulate discussions.

Register now: the first lecture will take place on March 18th, 2022 at 1 p.m. CETDr. Tibor Kálmán (Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH, GWDG) will address the topic of PIDs (Persistent identifiers).
