The German Data Forum (RatSWD) has fundamentally revised its Data Protection Ganual and adapted it to the EU-wide General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the amended German data protection laws.

The publication offers a brief overview of the aspects relevant to data protection law in social, behavioral and economic research practice. For this purpose, it explains the data protection principles according to the European General Data Protection Regulation, the most important applicable legal regulations in addition to the GDPR, the basic terms of data protection in research and the obligations of 'data processors'.
Oriented towards everyday research, the handout is devoted to data protection aspects in the acquisition, processing, publication, archiving and reuse of data. Further literature references enable a deeper understanding of the aspects shown.
